Newnan, GA

History

Newnan is a city in Georgia that lies 30 miles southwest of Atlanta in a region once hunted and fished by the Creeks. The city, named after General Daniel Newnan, became an incorporated part of Coweta County, http://www.coweta.ga.us, in the 1820s. Newnan escaped the destruction most Civil War cities faced because many of its buildings served as hospitals for Union and Confederate troops wounded in the nearby Battle of Brown’s Mill,  http://battleofbrownsmill.org. Today this lovely town of 33,000 is known as the “City of Homes” because of its historically high percentage of home owners. Contact a realtor for more information about real estate in Newnan GA.
